Akshay Kumar’s latest film, Sky Force, opened to mixed reviews, yet its box office numbers tell a different story. The film crossed the Rs 60 crore mark within three days of its release, benefiting from the holiday boost and showing steady growth over the weekend.
According to Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 12.25 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 22 crore on Saturday, and Rs 27.50 crore on Sunday across all languages. This brought the film’s total collection to Rs 61.75 crore by the end of its opening weekend. Sunday saw robust audience turnout, with a 47.22% occupancy rate during afternoon shows, rising to 56.52% in the evening and 39% during night shows.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh highlighted the film’s strong performance, noting the 71.90% growth on Day 2 as a pivotal factor in its weekend success.
He wrote, “The weekend total is sure to hit the ₹70 crore+ mark, marking a superb start to its #BoxOffice journey… All eyes are now on its weekday performance to determine if it has the legs to turn into a success story.”
Sky Force stars Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya as Indian Air Force officers. The film recounts India’s retaliatory attack on Pakistan’s Sargodha airbase during the 1965 Indo-Pakistan war, a historic operation remembered as the country’s first and deadliest airstrike.
The film also marks a comeback for Akshay Kumar, delivering a double-digit opening after a series of underperforming releases. Its strong start has set high expectations, with audiences and trade analysts closely monitoring its weekday performance to gauge its long-term success.
