| Updated: December 28, 2022 16:56

Prime Minister Narendra Modi rushed to Ahmedabad on Wednesday afternoon where his mother Heeraba Modi has been admitted to UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology & Research Centre. Earlier in the day, 99—year-old Heeraba complained of uneasiness and high-blood pressure.

Modi had spent his mother’s 99th birthday in June with her at her Gandhinagar residence. He also penned an emotional blog titled ‘Mother’. “My Mother is as simple as she is extraordinary. Just like all mothers! As I write about my mother, I am sure that many of you would relate to my description of her. While reading, you may even see your own mother’s image,” he wrote.

In Gandhinagar, an 80-metre road in the Raysan neighbourhood was recently named Pujya Hiraba Marg.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi and his sibling Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra tweeted support to Modi. “The love between a mother and her son is eternal and precious. In this difficult time, Modiji, my love and support is with you. I hope that your mother recovers soon,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted.

“We received the news that PM Modi’s mother is unwell. We are all with you in this time. I pray to God that that she recovers quickly,” Priyanka tweeted.
