Modi Rakes Up Pakistan, ‘Coward’ Congress In Jharkhand Rally, Pitches For Strong Government

| Updated: May 4, 2024 15:12

In his fresh salvo against the Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the party ‘coward’ as its government used to weep on global platforms after terrorist attacks.

Addressing a rally in Jharkhand’s Palamu on Saturday, PM Modi said the situation had changed under the BJP regime and Pakistan was now “weeping and screaming” for help.

“Earlier, after terrorist attacks, Congress’s coward government used to weep on the global platform. The time when India used to weep on the global platform has gone. Now, Pakistan is weeping and screaming for help,” PM Modi said.

Referring to the previous UPA regime, PM Modi said earlier governments used to send “love letters to Pakistan” in the hope of peace, but the neighbouring country used to send more terrorists in response.

“Today’s India doesn’t give dossiers. This is new India, ‘ghar mein ghus ke maarta hai’. There was a time when people from Jharkhand and Bihar who went to protect our nation were dying for the country on borders,” he said.

Taking a swipe at Rahul Gandhi, PM Modi said Pakistani leaders, shaken by surgical strikes, were praying for ‘shahzada’ to become the next Prime Minister. “However, strong India wants a strong government,” he said.

A former minister in Imran Khan’s Cabinet in Pakistan, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, recently shared a video featuring the Congress leader on his social media handle and praised him.

On the ruling alliance in Jharkhand, the PM said “corrupt” JMM and Congress leaders amassed huge wealth for their children.

“I don’t own a home or even a bicycle… There is no blot of corruption on me in the past 25 years as chief minister and prime minister,” he said.

PM Modi had also raised the national security pitch during his rally in Gujarat earlier this week.

Speaking in Sabarkantha, PM Modi said the BJP government had been consistently taking strong action against terrorism across the Pakistan border in comparison to “weak” governments in the past.

“Terrorists used to come to India and carry out attacks. The weak government at that time used to send dossiers. Today’s New India does not send dossiers, it gives dose to terrorists,” PM Modi said.
