Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the latter’s remarks that he said, insulted raja-maharajas.
In his speech at a public rally in Gandhinagar, PM Modi said, “You may have heard Congres Shehzada’s fresh remark. He says that Bharat’s Raja and Maharajas were atyachari. They would grab the land of poor people. They would grab it as per their whims.”
“Congress shehhzada has insulted great people like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chittoor queen. Their good governance and their patriotism inspire the people even today. Is Shehzada aware of Maisur royal’s contribution?,” he added.
The PM further said – “Congress Shahzada’s remark is deliberate and for politics of appeasement. Shahzada criticised raja – maharajas, but he is mum on atrocities committed by nawabs, nizams, sultans and badshahs. Congress doesn’t remember Aurangzeb’s atrocities. Hundreds of temples were broken. Shehzada allies with Aurangzeb’s admirers. He doesn’t remember those who demolished our pilgrim places, those who killed cows. He didn’t recall those nawabs who played a major role in India’s partition.”
The PM asked, “Can someone imagine Benaras Hindu University without the Raja of Benaras? Ahilyabai Holkar rebuilt our places of faith. Baroda Maharaja, Gaekwad state, called Babasaheb Ambedkar to Baroda and sent him abroad.”
Addressing back-to-back rallies in Belagavi, Sirsi, Davangere and Hosapete, he also continued his attack against the Congress on the “inheritance tax” issue and targeted the party’s government in Karnataka on law and order, corruption and development issues.
It’s worth noting that in his speech at Bellary, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had stated that Raja – Maharajas would grab land as per their wish.
