The captain of an Indian fishing boat was on Saturday booked by Porbandar Police for allegedly entering no-fishing zone, endangering his and others’ lives.
Based on a complaint filed by HC Gohil, police sub-inspector (PSI) of the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Porbandar district police, Navi Bandar Marine Police booked Dilip alias Gado Solanki, captain of fishing boat Jalpari.
The boat was allegedly fired at by the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) on November 6, 2021, when it forayed into no-fishing zone.
Jalpari’s caption has been booked under Sections 280 (rash navigation of vessel) and 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code.
The trawler had departed for fishing on October 26 last year. The PMSA had reportedly entered the Indian maritime boundary and open fired at the boat in which one sailor, Shridhar Chamre of Maharashtra, had died. The police had then seized the GPS and undertook FSL investigation.
Police said Solanki, who is a native of Union Territory of Diu, has been booked on the basis of forensic analysis of GPS device of the trawler that showed it entering the no-fishing zone along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) before 4 pm on November 6.
