Mumbai Police Detains Saif Ali Khan’s Attacker After 30-Hour Manhunt

| Updated: January 17, 2025 12:03

The Mumbai police has detained a suspect in connection with the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case. The individual is currently being held at Bandra Police Station, where top officers are questioning the accused.

According to sources, the police are likely to seek a 10-day custody of the suspect to aid the investigation.

The arrest comes amid ongoing efforts by the Mumbai police to piece together the sequence of events that led to the attack on the Bollywood actor. Earlier, the police recovered a portion of the blade extracted from Saif Ali Khan’s back. Efforts to locate the remaining portion of the blade are still underway, an official confirmed.

The attack took place in the early hours of Thursday, at around 2.30 am, at Saif’s 12th-floor Bandra flat.

An intruder allegedly confronted the actor’s maid at his residence. When Saif intervened to de-escalate the situation, the confrontation turned violent, resulting in the actor sustaining multiple stab wounds.

Saif was rushed to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery performed by a specialised team. Doctors revealed that the actor suffered a significant injury to his thoracic spinal cord due to a knife lodged in his spine.

The surgery involved removing a 2.5-inch blade and repairing the damage, including sealing a spinal fluid leak.

Lilavati Hospital officials stated that Saif is “out of danger” but remains under close observation.

The police have registered an FIR regarding the attack and have recorded the statement of the actor’s maid.
