| Updated: November 18, 2021 15:34

The Aryan Khan drug case is now off the heat after the 23-year-old got bail on October 25 after spending three weeks in jail. However, the fumes of Sameer Wankhede’s controversies of him being a Muslim still linger and in fact has turned stronger with the new evidence by the NCP (National Congress Party) supporting the assertion.

The preliminary documents in the investigation of the caste verification conducted by the Washim District Caste Certification Scrutiny Committee state that Sameer Wankhede, was a Muslim before 2006. Not only that, but Wankhede’s father – Dhyandev Wankhede converted to Islam even before Sameer was born and named him Dawood.

This revelation has provoked the age-old tussle between Mahrashtra Minister, Nawab Malik and Wankhede as Malik has made a few allegations on Wankhede. Malik had accused earlier that Wankhede was a born Muslim but he did forge documents to show that he belonged to the Hindu SC category to get a job after clearing the UPSC.

Malik also took to Twitter earlier sharing a birth certificate, reportedly of Sameer Wankhede stating that his father was ‘Dawood’ Wankhede.

Supporting his allegations on Wankhede, Malik, on Thursday said that Wankhede’s School Leaving Certificate shows him to be a ‘Muslim’.

The Wankhede family produced a computer-generated certificate of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation that shows the name as Sameer, and father’s name as Dnyandeo Kachruji Wankhede to counter Malik’s accusation.

To this, Malik responded stating that Sameer has continued producing such fake certificates which would cost him losing his job.

Sudhir Suryawanshi, a renowned journalist from Maharashtra who has been active in political affairs of the state also took to Twitter saying that Sameer Wankhede was a Muslim prior to 2006 and shared a document by Washim District Caste certificate Scrutiny committee supporting the statement.

His tweet read ” Caste certificate Scrutiny committee, on d basis of documents prima facie revealed, before the birth of Sameer Wankhede, his father Dhandev aka Dawood embraced Muslim religion & even Sameer Wankhede was Muslim prior to2006.”
