| Updated: November 11, 2021 08:48

The foundation stone for the new Regional Transport Office (RTO) building at Subhash Bridge in Ahmedabad will be laid by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on November 19, according to the sources.

In the past seven days, the old RTO has been completely demolished and the excavation work is underway for laying the foundation stone for the new building. The four-storeyed new structure of the RTO is designed in a way, that it would turn out to look better than even Ahmedabad airport. Expected to be completed within a year or around 15 months, the new building will be fully airconditioned with excess seating facilities for more than 500 persons, a huge parking lot, three driving test tracks for two-wheelers and four-wheelers along with other amenities.

The ground floor of the new four-storeyed building of the RTO will be dedicated to providing licensing and registration services, with the other three dedicated to admin and other offices.

The new building will be spread in around 5,000 sq. m and will be built at an estimated expense of Rs 40 crore. It will be able to manage and facilitate the present RTO traffic of around 1,000 footfalls every day.
