The BJP has decided to keep all big leaders from the neighbouring Rajasthan out of the list of star campaigners for the Gujarat Assembly elections. It could be a strategy of the BJP that not one leader from Rajasthan is on the list of 40 star campaigners.
The big leaders kept out are Vasundhara Raje, currently the national vice-president of the BJP, and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, one of the national spokespersons of the BJP. The likes of Alka Singh Gurjar, Arun Singh, Vijaya Rahatkar, Jaskaur Meena, and Arun Chaturvedi too will not be campaigning in Gujarat.
However, a few Rajasthan leaders are given back-office responsibilities and fieldwork. Rajasthan BJP’s state president Satish Poonia and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat are among the 150 leaders that have been assigned with the fieldwork. They are reaching out to Rajasthani voters in Gujarat.
Though not as star campaigners in Gujarat, four Union Ministers from Rajasthan — Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Bhupendra Yadav, Arjunram Meghwal and Kailash Chaudhary — helping the Gujarat BJP in the run-up to the elections.
