In an important development, Jammu and Kashmir High Court has said that not getting up for the national anthem may considered disrespect to it but does not amount to a crime under the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act, 1971. The judgement comes 5 years after the rule which made it mandatory for everyone to stand up in the theatres before the movie starts for national anthem.
