One Killed, After Burka-Clad Terrorists Throw Grenade At Wine Shop In Kashmir’s Baramulla

One person was killed and three others injured in a grenade attack in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir. The suspected terrorists were clad in a burka when they threw the grenade on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. Located in Baramulla’s Dewan Bagh neighbourhood, the wine shop is right next to police and security forces facilities.

The dead victim Ranjit Singh was a resident of Rajouri. The 35-year-old used to work at the freshly inaugurated wine shop in the garrison town.

The other three injured employees of this wine shop have been identified as Govardhan Singh, Ravi Kumar , both residents of Billawar Kathua and Govind Singh, a resident of Kangra Rajouri.

One critically injured victim out of the three has been transferred to a hospital nearby.

The police officials stated that two terrorists wearing a burqa, riding on a bike stopped near a wine shop and dropped a grenade inside and eventually fled away around 8 pm.

 “In this terror incident, four employees of the said shop received splinter injuries. All the injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital however, one among the injured identified as Ranjit Singh, son of Kishan Lal, resident of Bakra Rajouri succumbed to his injuries,” according to a police official. 

Additionally, the police officials have stated that the accidental spot has been completely cordoned off and a thorough search operation is underway.

This is the second major attack of its kind after the attack on Kashmiri Pandit on Thursday, May 12, 2022, in Budgam district. Rahul Bhat was made the victim of a targeted attack and was fired upon at the tehsildar’s office in Chandoora village. He was critically injured and was been shifted to a local hospital where he succumbed to injuries. 4,000 Pandit employees are protesting and demanding their relocation to safer places outside Kashmir Valley ever since that heinous attack.
