Online Food Platforms Rake In The Moolah On The Year End, Served 45 Lacs In Just Two days

Online food giants Swiggy and Zomato brought in the year 2022 with over 2 million orders each. These online platforms hit an all-time highest sales volume on New Year’s Eve 2021 partly thanks to a surge in Covid 19 cases. Zomato reached an order value of 2.5 million whereas Swiggy reached an order value of 2 million orders.

Zomato said it reached over Rs 100 crore Gross Merchandise Value (the food ordered value on the platform), Archrival Swiggy confirms that orders delivered grew upto 62% and GMV grew upto 61% on Friday in comparison to the last year. The Co-Founder and Chief Executive of Zomato, Deepinder Goyal and the CEO and Co-Founder of Swiggy, Sriharsha Majety live tweeted the orders throughout the whole evening.

Both the platforms crossed 7000 orders per minute that day. Swiggy’s order per minute reached 9500 that evening, crossing last year’s record by 1.7 times. Swiggy appointed a total of 3,00,000 delivery partners and Zomato appointed 1,00,000 delivery partners.
