A police officer from Modasa in North Gujarat has become indebted to the tune of Rs 24 lakh, after falling victim to the lure of online gaming. In a video, he urged Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi to settle this debt.

Navghan Bharwad, who was on duty at the Modasa rural police station, became addicted to online gaming. Due to this addiction, the family had previously paid off the debt of Rs 8 lakh; nevertheless, this policeman, who developed a serious addiction to online games, recently racked up a new debt of Rs 24 lakh.

Following this, he made a video urging Sanghavi for assistance. He said: “I want to make a request to Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi Sahib (Sir). Sir, I am stuck in a debt of Rs 24 lakhs in an online game. Sir, my current salary is Rs 30,000. I am ready to pay Rs 15,000 per month and want to get out of this situation. Sir, I hope this message reaches you, because I am frustrated.”

He turned off his phone and left the residence as soon as the video went viral. But before he could make such a severe move, the police apprehended him. The police constable had received instructions from the Aravalli district police to prevent him from taking his own life.

The police counselled him, and warned him to exercise caution when playing online games to avoid further financial loss.
