The respite Ahmedabad citizens felt from the scorching heat, thanks to recent showers, proved to be brief. The IMD has predicted an intense heatwave for the coming 6 days.

There are three other cities in Gujarat apart from Ahmedabad which recorded temperatures beyond 44 degrees. Surendranagar witnessed the maximum heat at 44.7, followed by Deesa at 44.4. Once the greenest capital in Asia, Gandhinagar saw mercury rising to 44 degrees.

Ahmedabad will continue to suffer from intense heat for around 6 days. The temperatures will hover around 43 to 44 degrees. Private websites estimate the trend to be going even higher, up to 45 degrees.

The unbearable heat has also stretched across cities like Bhuj, Amreli, Rajkot, and Vadodara, where temperatures reached 43.8, 43.2, 43.7, and 42.2 respectively.

Meanwhile, Andrew Pershing, vice president for science at Climate Central, said in the report that Human-caused climate change has made this intense heat much more likely.
