Pakistan Cricketer Shaheen Afridi Ties Knot With Shahid Afridi’s Daughter

| Updated: February 10, 2023 17:49

Shaheen Shah Afridi, a Pakistani pacer, wed Ansha Afridi, the daughter of Shahid Afridi, a former captain of Pakistan and the interim head selector of the men’s team, on Friday.

Shaheen’s teammates, including former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and current captain Babar Azam, were present for the Nikah ceremony in Karachi. In 2021, the former Pakistani captain announced that Shaheen would wed his second-eldest daughter.

The 22-year-old, who has taken 219 international wickets across formats in 104 games, has emerged as Pakistan’s top bowler in recent years. Shaheen hasn’t played since the 2022 T20 World Cup final when he sustained a recurring knee ailment that had bothered him for the majority of the year.

The pacer has been working out with his father-in-law as he recovers. Shaheen, who is recovering from an injury, is seen bowling to Shahid Afridi in a video that has been going viral on social media. Afridi uses the aerial way to evade the left-arm pacer.

“There were times when I wanted to give up…I was working on only one muscle and it was not improving,” Shaheen had told PCB Digital earlier in the week. “Often during the rehabilitation sessions, I used to say to myself this is enough, I cannot do this anymore. But then I used to watch my bowling on YouTube and see how well I had done and that motivated me and I told myself to push a little more…It is frustrating for a fast bowler to miss cricket because of an injury.”
