The Gujarat State Football Association (GSFA) is making extensive efforts to boost the popularity of football in Gujarat and to ensure more promising players from the state rise to prominence. As a result, players from Gujarat are being selected for national and international level tournaments in both football and futsal.

At the 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the GSFA held today in Ahmedabad, a strong resolve was expressed under the leadership of GSFA President and Rajya Sabha MP, Parimal Nathwani, to further develop and enrich football in the state in the coming years.

Currently, a total of 18,334 football players are registered in Gujarat under the AIFF’s CRS (Central Registration System). There are 7,363 active players in the state, out of which 4,483 players participated in various tournaments. According to the GSFA’s annual report for the year 2025-26, Gujarat’s Shubhangi Singh captained the Indian team in the AFC U-20 and secured a victory in the qualifying round, while Khushbu Saroj earned a spot in the Indian U-17 and U-20 teams.

Additionally, alongside Khushbu Saroj, the state’s Tanvi Mavani and Radhika Patel were selected for the Indian Women’s Futsal Team and represented India in the SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship. Among the men, Vishal Dubey and Aman Shah were selected for the Indian National Futsal Team and represented the country in the AFC Futsal Championship held in Kuwait.

Expressing joy and pride over the progress of the GSFA, President Parimal Nathwani added that football and futsal officials from Gujarat are also earning laurels due to the efforts and encouragement of the association. Shakti Singh Chauhan, who is associated with the GSFA, completed the FIFA Coach Education Diploma course. Furthermore, Vishal Vaja and Rachana Kamani were selected as FIFA Futsal Officials. This year, apart from AIFF tournaments, Tribal Games, around 10 Inter-District tournaments, and an equal number of Club tournaments were organized in Gujarat.

Delighted by outcomes of GSFA’s efforts, Nathwani added, “During 2025-26, the GSFA organized more than 30 different tournaments, including Inter-District, Club-level, AIFF Asmita tournaments, and the Tribal Games.”

Parimal Nathwani also expressed his resolve to give further momentum to Beach Soccer and Futsal tournaments in Gujarat in the coming days. For this purpose, emphasis was laid on obtaining more CSR funds from various companies and institutions so that the football infrastructure in the state can be developed rapidly.

The Honorary General Secretary of GSFA, Murlrajsinh Chudasama, presented the annual activity report along with the calendar for the new football year, and placed the annual audited accounts before the members.

The AGM was attended by GSFA Vice Presidents Pradipsinh Vaghela and Shri Arunsinh Rajput, alongside Honorary General Secretary Murlrajsinh Chudasama, Honorary Treasurer Ankit Patel, and representatives of the District Football Associations affiliated with the GSFA. The meeting also discussed amendments to the constitution of the district associations, the organization of various Inter-District football tournaments, as well as matters regarding Futsal, Beach Soccer, and the Asmita League.
