Patan Shamed! Young Man Beaten To Death At Rehab Centre

| Updated: December 27, 2023 11:42

Rehabilitation for alcohol addiction has cost a young man his life. Hardik Rameshbhai Suthar, a resident of Boti Dau village of Mehsana district, was mercilessly murdered at a drug de-addiction centre in Patan where he had been undergoing treatment.

Cremated hurriedly, his horrifying killing was described as a normal death. Even Suthar’s family assumed he died of natural causes. Patan Superintendent of Police Vijay Patel said no complaint was registered initially.

Thanks to an informer, the police uncovered the gruesome act. The strong evidence came in the form of CCTV footage that helped the police nab the killers. It emerges that the ones who had beaten Suthar to death were the de-addiction centres’ employees. CCTV footage showed the young man tied with a rope, suspended upside down, and a few people pitilessly assaulting him with iron rods.

The Vibes of India has learnt that Suthar was locked in a room after which he fainted. He was taken to a hospital in a private car but the doctor declared him dead on arrival.

The director of the de-addiction centre, Sandeep Patel, is suspected of covering up. VOI understands Patel called Suthar’s uncle. He deceived him saying that Suthar must be taken to the hospital since his blood pressure levels had come down. Suthar’s family was informed of his death only in the morning. After taking his unsuspecting family into confidence, Suthar’s body was cremated.

Later, Suthar’s maternal uncle, suspecting foul play, filed a police complaint. Patel, Jitendra Sanwaliya, Jayesh Chaudhary, Kiran Patel, Nitin Bhutadia, and Mahesh Nai — all chief administrators of the drug de-addiction — are behind bars. Search is on to nab the remaining culprits, Gaurav Randeri, Jayneesh Tada and Jaideep.

Suthar had been undergoing treatment at the de-addiction centre for six months. He exhibited restlessness during this period and even wanted to go home. His anxiety levels rose to an extent that he reportedly slit his hand with a knife.
