As cricket fever grips Ahmedabad, and the city airport runs choc-a-bloc with flights carrying a plethora of VVIP guests from all corners of the world, flight prices have also soared to sky-high levels.
From Mumbai and Delhi to Ahmedabad, ticket prices have reached Rs 30,000 for Saturday alone.
Celebrities, film stars, and business tycoons are making a beeline to the city. Many have opted to charter private planes to Ahmedabad, ensuring they don’t miss out on the action.
As excitement for the match has drawn cricket fans from every corner of India to Ahmedabad, airlines have jumped on the bandwagon.
A Delhi-Ahmedabad ticket usually costs between Rs 5,000 and Rs 7,000. But, for Saturday, it will cost you Rs 29,500, if available. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad route has seen an even sharper rise, going from the typical Rs 3,000-Rs 5,000 range to Rs 30,000, confirmed by travel industry insiders.
Apart from the intense cricket action, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced star-studded performances. Artists like Shankar Mahadevan, Sukhwinder Singh, Arijit Singh, Neha Kakkar and Sunidhi Chauhan will grace the stadium with their voices.
Bollywood heavyweights Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth will also be seen in Ahmedabad on Saturday. Not to be outdone, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar will touch down via Vistara Air. Business leaders including Akash Ambani, Kumar Mangalam Birla and Dr Sanjiv Goenka have Ahmedabad on their itinerary for Saturday as well.
