Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the 594-km Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district today.
The expressway will pass through Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Shahjahanpur, Budaun, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj districts. On completion, it will be the longest expressway of Uttar Pradesh.
The six-lane expressway will be constructed at a cost of over Rs 36,230 crores. Moreover, a 3.5 km-long air strip has been constructed on the expressway in Shahjahanpur for assisting emergency take off and landing of Indian Air Foce planes.
The development of the expressway will provide a big boost to the economy of the region.
