Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for development projects worth Rs 24,865 crore during his two-day visit to his home state Gujarat on May 26 and 27.
According to reports, the visit includes major railway, road, water supply, and urban development works across several districts.
In Dahod, PM Modi will inaugurate a 9,000 HP Locomotive Rolling Stock Workshop, built by the Ministry of Railways at a cost of Rs 21.4 crore. The government says the workshop will generate 10,000 jobs and manufacture 1,200 engines over 10 years, each capable of pulling 4,600 tonnes. Railway projects worth Rs 2,287 crore will also be launched, including doubling of key rail lines, electrification of the Sabarmati-Botad line, and gauge conversion of the Kalol-Kadi-Katosan route.
He will also inaugurate water projects worth Rs 181 crore for Mahisagar and Dahod districts, benefiting over 4.6 lakh people across 193 villages and Mahisagar city. Civic works worth Rs 233 crore under the Dahod Smart City project—including a new municipal building and tribal museum—will be opened, along with police housing projects worth Rs 53 crore.
In Vadodara district, India’s Prime Minister will lay foundation stones for key road infrastructure works totalling Rs 581 crore, including the four-lane conversion of Savli-Timba road, and widening of the Kayavarohan-Sadhali and Jarod-Samlaya roads. A new bridge on the Padmala-Ranoli road is also part of this package. Further, works under the Amrut 2.0 and Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Urban Development Scheme worth Rs 26 crore will be launched in Balasinor, Mahisagar district. Another Rs 26 crore has been earmarked for the Bharej bridge in Chhota Udepur and Rs 73 crore for a railway overbridge at LC 65.
Reports added that PM Modi will visit Vadodara on Monday morning. He’ll lead a kilometre-long roadshow from the airport to the Air Force base, where he will be felicitated for Operation Sindoor. BJP leaders say the roadshow will feature cultural tableaux and cut-outs highlighting Modi’s decisions after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. They also plan tributes to India’s Armed Forces and defence systems.
Vadodara officials, including the District Collector and Municipal Commissioner, are supervising the preparations. The visit, Modi’s first to Gujarat since Operation Sindoor, is being portrayed as both a celebration of development and a tribute to national security efforts.
