For running an alleged racket of producing liquor in the pretence of producing an ayurvedic syrup, two were taken into custody on Wednesday in Vadodara.
The detention took place after the forensic analysis confirmed that the primary ingredient used for the production process of syrup was an alcoholic substance. The samples for the forensic test were collected by the Vadodara Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB) in a raid at Durga Industrial Estate in Sankarda village of the city on December 2.
The PCB on Wednesday informed that the two detained in the case are Trupti Panchal and Nitin Kotwani and the latter was recently out on bail in the case for producing health-harming methanol-mixed duplicate sanitizers.
The duo has been charged under Prohibition Act along with various Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections – criminal breach of trust, criminal conspiracy, forgery and others.
