| Updated: September 10, 2023 13:21

President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Gujarat in order to inaugurate the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) project of the state Assembly on September 13. An official announcement was made regarding her visit on Saturday.

Gujarat Assembly Secretary DM Patel has confirmed that the President will inaugurate NeVA, a project that has been implemented based on the concept of ‘One Nation, One Application,’ as introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The primary objective of this project is to transform the Assembly into a paperless entity. Following the inauguration ceremony, President Murmu will proceed to address the MLAs.

In a video statement, Patel elaborated, “Vidhan Sabha Speaker Shankar Chaudhary extended an invitation to President Murmu to inaugurate the project and deliver a speech during the third session of the 15th Assembly, which is scheduled to commence on September 13.” He further highlighted, “The digitalization of the Gujarat Assembly, aligning with PM Modi’s ‘One Nation, One Application’ initiative, was successfully accomplished under the guidance of Speaker Shankar Chaudhary. President Draupadi Murmu graciously accepted the invitation to inaugurate the digital transformation of the Gujarat Assembly.”

The NeVA application has been designed to facilitate the active participation of MLAs in various technology-based activities by equipping them with tablets. Adequate training has been provided to them for this purpose.

In another development, Congress general secretary in-charge of Gujarat, Mukul Wasnik, issued directives on Saturday to the heads of the party’s frontal organisations in the state, instructing them to fill vacant positions. He also engaged in discussions with the state leadership regarding preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. This visit marks Wasnik’s second trip to Gujarat in less than two weeks since assuming the role of in-charge for the state. During his visit, Wasnik conducted individual meetings with presidents of various frontal organisations and participated in the core committee meeting, as reported by party sources.

A party representative conveyed, “Wasnik has instructed them to appoint dedicated individuals from all communities at every level to address the vacancies and bolster the party’s strength.” The core committee meeting was attended by Pradesh Congress President and Rajya Sabha member Shaktisinh Gohil, as well as the leader of the legislative party, Amit Chavda.
