Priyanka Chaturvedi resigns as an anchor of Sansad TV Show, Meri Kahaani after arbitrary suspension from Rajya Sabha for the winter session. Shiv Sena MP decided to step down after being suspended along with 11 other MPs for the entire winter session on account of ‘unruly’ behaviour.
She resigned by drafting a letter to the Honourable Chairman of Rajya Sabha M Venkaiah Naidu. In the letter, she stated “It is with deep anguish that I step down as an anchor of Sansad TV’s show Meri Kahaani, I am unwilling to occupy space on Sansad TV for a show but being denied space on it for discharging parliamentary duties due to arbitrary suspension of us 12 MPs. Hence, as much as I was committed to the show, I must step away.”
The 12 MPs were suspended from the winter session on account of their ‘unruly’ behaviour in the monsoon session held in August. However, the opposition has termed this suspension ‘undemocratic and in violation of all the Rules of Procedure’.
The 12 MPs include six from Congress, two from Shiv Sena and Trinamool Congress each and the other two from CPI and CPI(M). All of them have been holding protests.
