Pune IT Engineer Loses Rs 49 Lakh In Online Scam

| Updated: June 26, 2023 15:30

An engineer specialising in information technology became a victim of an online scam in Pune. The engineer got scammed after he was lured for a job offer. He lost 60,000 Million Dollars.

In a police complaint that Amita Kulkarni (name changed) has filed with the Hinjewadi police station in Pune in India, the IT engineer got a job-offer on WhatsApp which promised her extra income by liking YouTube videos. Initially, the victim was paid Rs 150 and Rs 350 for completing the tasks assigned to her by the scammer. The scam took a sinister twist and the victim was asked to invest some money for further tasks. The fraudster promised the victim a 30 percent return on the amount invested. The victim then invested a total of Rs 49 lakh in hopes of getting a 30 per cent return but that did not happen as the scammer never returned any amount. In a month’s time, Amita lost the 49 lacs that she had “invested” for better returns.
