Rajkot: Class 11 Girl Dies By Suicide, Blames Father For End

| Updated: March 13, 2023 10:11

What triggered the extreme step is yet to emerge, however, a suicide note recovered from the deceased’s diary pinned the blame on her father. A girl studying in Class 11 allegedly died by suicide at a private residential school near Dhoraji town in Gujarat’s Rajkot district, late Saturday. The police said they have found an intended note blaming her father for the end.

The note, in Gujarati, reads: “I hate you, papa! There is only one reason for my death, and that is you. You never treated me as your daughter. The only thing you know is how to scold and order around. I hate you papa. I feel sorry for ba (grandmother) who gave me the love of a mother and a father.” Confirming the note, the officer added that a case of accidental death has been registered.

The police said the girl’s body was found in her hostel room late on Saturday evening. “Divya returned to her room soon after having her dinner in the school mess while her room-mate went to her friend’s room for studying. When the mate eventually returned to the room around 10:30 pm, she found Divya dead,” briefed inspector Aniruddhsinh Gohil, Dhoraji PS.

Divya’s roommate informed the matron, who in turn informed the school administrators and police. The police said Divya was a native of Kutiyana taluka of the neighbouring Porbandar district and had enrolled at the Royal Science School last year.

The hostel warden reported that on Friday afternoon, Divya had complained of giddiness and was taken to the hospital of Dr Bhavnesh Patel where the doctor conducted a check-up. Divya’s roommates further informed the police that she was not keeping well for the past three days.

The note also mentions her mother. “Please forgive me (mother) but I cannot live with so much tension. My spirit will never be at peace. I will avenge every tear I have had to shed.”

An investigation has been initiated.
