Recent reports suggest that the Gujarat government has suspended seven officials, including two police officers, in connection with the Rajkot-based TRP Game Zone fire case. The incident took place in May 2024 and reportedly claimed around 30 lives, including children and families who had visited the game zone. Following the incident, action was taken and the suspensions were ordered over alleged negligence.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has ordered the immediate suspension of the seven officials.
Reports suggest that the Gujarat government has also taken suo motu cognizance of the matter. Meanwhile, the Gujarat High Court has been monitoring the case through a special bench comprising Justice Biren Vaishnav and Justice Devan Desai.
To investigate the incident, a five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed under the leadership of Additional Director General of Police Subhash Trivedi. The SIT has been assigned to conduct a detailed investigation into the case.
It is important to note that the government action and the ongoing investigation, along with the suspension of officials, highlight the seriousness of the matter and the manner in which the case is being handled.
