India is on the brink of Covid third wave. Since the new variant of Covid-19 ‘Omicron’ has entered the country, the cases have risen rapidly. With this, big names of politics have started coming under the Covid radar. The most recent victim of the virus is Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
On Monday, he declared that he has tested positive for COVID-19. The Minister took to his Twitter and announced this news, he said he has “mild symptoms” and is quarantined at home.
“I have tested positive for Corona today with mild symptoms. I am under home quarantine. I request everyone who has recently come in my contact to isolate themselves and get tested,” tweeted Singh.
On January 8, the Defence Minister addressed a webinar and announced the set-up of 100 new Sainik Schools in the country to provide opportunities for girls to join the Armed Forces. He had also added that this new move will contribute to the nation’s growth.
Massive 1.79 lakh fresh cases were recorded in the country this morning; the daily positivity was reported to be 13.29 per cent. Delhi alone on Sunday has reported a rising positivity rate (23%) with 22,751 new cases in 24 hours.
Regarding this extreme surge in cases, the Health Ministry stated that “The rise, it appears, is being driven by the Variant of Concern (VOC) ‘Omicron’ and the continued presence of another VoC ‘Delta’ in large geographies across the country.”
