On the intervening night of August 3 and 4, as the passengers slept onboard a Rajdhani Express from Delhi to Ahmedabad, a coach attendant allegedly raped a teenaged girl in by gagging her mouth with a piece of cloth.
RPF team noticed the visibly distraught girl, who had allegedly run away from her house, when she got off the train at at Ahmedabad station. When they asked her what was wrong, she narrated her ordeal to them.
The cops swung into action and the attendant was arrested within hours.
The girl, who is 16-years-old, told the police that she was from a village in Munger, Bihar, and had gone to stay at a relative’s house in Jaipur a few days back.
She was at Jaipur station, where the Rajdhani Express from Delhi to Ahmedabad arrived at midnight. The coach attendant saw the girl sitting alone, and struck up a conversation. When he found out that she wanted to go to Bihar, he invited her onboard the Rajdhani and promised to put her on a train to Patna from Ahmedabad.
Based on the girl’s statement, inspector H B Balia registered a case and conducted the investigation. Railway superintendent of police Parikshit Gurjar informed Balia about the incident.
The police suspected that the rapist was a coach attendant. They arranged a watch at the platform and as soon as the train attendant, Sunil Mishra, arrived for the return journey he was nabbed.
