| Updated: May 12, 2022 18:04

Amdavadis are downhearted as the city continues to heat up, and there is no sign of relief in May. Ahmedabad has been recording a temperature of 47 degrees Celsius for two days simultaneously. People have started avoiding going out of their houses due to the scorching heat. On the other hand, the AMC (Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation) requested the citizens of Ahmedabad to be careful. Not only this but a red alert has been declared in Ahmedabad for the second time this summer.

According to the reports from the meteorological department, the heatwave in the state is increasing. On Thursday, May 12, the temperature is likely to be up to 45 degrees Celsius. The meteorological department issued a red alert for May 13 and 14 due to the blazing sun.

In Saurashtra, the weather department issued a yellow alert. As per the notification from the weather department, the high temperature in Ahmedabad city and parts of Gujarat is due to Northwesterly winds.

Ahmedabad has been facing unbearable heat. The last temperature reading was 47 degrees Celsius. Currently, the temperature fluctuates around 45.8 degrees Celsius. In Surendranagar, the temperature is 46 degrees Celsius. Even areas of Saurashtra witnessed extreme heat, due to which the weather department issued a yellow alert in the city.

The meteorological department said, “there are chances that the temperature drops by 2 degrees Celsius. Currently, the cyclone hasn’t affected the city yet. However, the temperature will continue to fluctuate due to wind direction.”
