Republic Day Parade 2022 To Have Laser Show And Troops

The upcoming Republic Day will see the grandest fly past and according to recent inputs, an elaborate laser show will also be part of the festivities along with the Indian Army troops seen marching in different uniforms.

The vivid uniforms worn by the Army will date from 1950 to present day during the Republic Day parade.

Six marching contingents of the army wearing these different uniforms will participate and different weapons of the different eras will be showcased.
Soldiers from the Rajput regiment will wear the uniform from 1950 and march with 303 rifles. Assam regiment soldiers will don the uniform from 1960 along with 303 rifles. Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) troops will wear the uniform from 1970 and carry 7.62 mm rifle. While Sikh Light Infantry (SIKHLI) troops and Army Ordnance will don the present day olive green along with the INSAS rifles, according to the report.

The Parachute regiment troops will be seen donning the new combat uniform unveiled at the Army Day parade 2022, along with carrying the Tavor rifle.

While addressing the press on republic day parade preparations, Major General Alok Kakkar also put emphasis on the fact that various new elements involving the Indian Army and forces in the upcoming celebrations. He mentioned there will be a segment on laser projection too.

Major General Kakkar said , “AVSM GOC Gen VK Sharma and myself Major General Alok Kakkar will lead the parade, Chief of staff Delhi area will be second in command. We will be followed by two Param Vir Chakra recipients Captain Joginder Singh and Subedar Ashok Kumar.”

Almost a sum of 1000 drones will participate in Republic Day celebrations

Further, he mentioned two new elements celebrations, laser projection on the South and North block walls, which will be followed by a drone show. “A minimum of 1000 drones will participate in the show,” he concluded.

Notably, the celebrations have been planned with the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Education. Considering the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, Defence Ministry has taken the initiative to invite citizens for watching the live streaming. A total of 16 marching contingents, comprising six from the army, one each from the Navy and Air Force, four Central Armed Police Forces, one from the Delhi Police two from National Cadet Corps and one NSS will participate in the Republic Day parade.
