Run Machine Jaiswal Surpasses Kohli in Epic Test Series!

In a remarkable display of batting prowess, young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal etched his name in the history books on Thursday. He surpassed the legendary Virat Kohli and other batting greats to become the highest run scorer for India in a Test series against England.

Jaiswal achieved this feat during the opening day of the fifth and final Test against England, currently underway in Dharamsala. During the final session, he surpassed Kohli’s previous record of 655 runs, set during the 2016 Test series in India.

Before departing for 57 runs late in the day, Jaiswal also crossed the 700-run mark in the ongoing series, further solidifying his impressive performance.

Jaiswal’s feat places him above several Indian batting legends. Current coach Rahul Dravid sits at third with 602 runs scored during India’s 2002 tour of England. Following closely behind is Kohli himself, with 593 runs from India’s 2018 tour of England, which they unfortunately lost 4-1.

Batting greats Sunil Gavaskar and Vijay Manjrekar also find their names on this prestigious list, having amassed 542 and 586 runs, respectively, in a single Test series against England.

Jaiswal’s stellar performance extends beyond this record. He also became the second-fastest Indian batsman to reach 1000 Test runs, achieving this milestone in just 16 innings. This feat surpasses the previous record held by Vinod Kambli, who reached 1000 runs in 14 innings.

Jaiswal’s exceptional batting display has undoubtedly cemented his position as a rising star in Indian cricket. His ability to perform consistently at the highest level bodes well for the future of the Indian batting lineup.
