The family of Indian cricketer Shubman Gill, visited former Gujarat Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vijaybhai Rupani at his residence in Gandhinagar, the state capital.

Shubman Gill, a right-hand top-order batsman from Punjab, is gearing up for the final match of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s one-day World Cup, scheduled for Sunday, November 19, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, considered the world’s largest cricket stadium. Shubman and the rest of the Indian cricket team arrived in Ahmedabad on Thursday evening and are staying at the Hotel ITC Narmada.

Rupani, who oversees the BJP’s Punjab unit and frequently visits the state, met with the family members of Shubman, who hail from Punjab. Shubman’s father, Lakhwinder Singh, is an agriculturist with dreams of a cricketing career and originates from Fazilka, a small village near the India-Pakistan border. Shubman’s mother, Keart Singh, is a homemaker, while his sister, Shahneel Gill, is an active presence on Instagram.

In a Facebook post, Rupani mentioned, “Today, the parents and sister of the outstanding performer from the Indian cricket team, Shubman Gill, who hails from Punjab, visited my residence in Gandhinagar. I extended my congratulations to Shubman Gill for his exceptional performance and wished the Indian team success in the final match of the Cricket World Cup-2023, set to take place on November 19, 2023, against Australia.”
