Sunny Deol Confirms Role in ‘Ramayana,’ Dismisses Hanuman Rumors

| Updated: December 10, 2024 15:22

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is set to premiere in November 2026, and Ranbir Kapoor recently revealed it as a two-part epic. Meanwhile, Sunny Deol, an actor speculated to be in the movie, has confirmed his involvement.

Sunny acknowledged in a recent interview with a section of media that the film’s creators intend to make “Ramayana” a significant production, much like “Avatar” and “Planet of the Apes” were in Hollywood. It involves all those technicians. “The actor said that the writer and director are very clear about how it must be and how the characters should be presented.”

Despite being inspired by classic stories like the Ramayana, recent high-profile films like Om Raut’s “Adipurush,” which starred Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, have come under fire for having poor visual effects.

In response to the audience’s fears, Sunny reassured them that Nitesh’s endeavour would produce a visually appealing experience. He claims that the special effects will seem real, giving the events on screen a realistic, rather than made-up, appearance. “I’m sure it’s going to be great, and everybody will love it,” he said.

Sunny did not confirm that he was playing Hanuman, despite rumours.

Actor Ranbir announced during the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah that “Ramayana Part 1” is finished, and Part 2 will be filmed shortly. The actor called playing Ram a “dream role” and conveyed his joy and thanks for the opportunity. The actor underlined the film’s examination of Indian ideals and cultural significance.

He claims the endeavour will produce a rich narrative combining cultural teachers and storytelling.

Yash will play Ravan in “Ramayana,” while Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi will play Ram and Sita, respectively.

Ravi Dubey has confirmed Lakshman’s role. The first instalment of the movie is anticipated to be released in theatres around the 2026 Diwali season.
