Traffic movement restrictions during Rathyatra and alternative routes

On Monday, July 12th, during Lord Jagannath’s 144th Rathyatra to be held in the city with Covid-19 curbs, curfew has been imposed in areas that fall under the jurisdiction of the Gaekwad Haveli police station – Kalupur, Shaherkotda, Madhavpura, Karanj, Dariapur and Shahpur police station areas.

According to the notification issued by City Police Chief Sanjay Srivastava on Friday, July 9th, traffic movement will be restricted from Flower Market near Sardar bridge to Jamalpur crossroads, ST Circle, Astodia Gate, Sarangpur Circle, Potalia Cross Roads, Nirmalpura Cross Roads, Memco Cross Roads, from under Amdupura Bridge, Eidgah Circle, Prem Darwaja, Delhi Darwaja, Rahat Circle, Shankarbhuvan Road near Gandhi bridge, Nehru bridge- Rupali Triple Junction and Ellis bridge- Victoria Garden, towards the areas in which curfew is imposed on July 12th.

Alternatives routes

1) Traffic streaming in from Naroda will be diverted towards the left of Memco Cross Roads and will be allowed to pass through Bapunagar- Rakhial and Amraiwadi.

2) Traffic coming from Ashram Road will be diverted to Sabarmati River Front (West) Road. The vehicles will be able to commute through Subhash Bridge, Shila-Lekh Cross Roads, Shahibaugh Dafnala and Airport Road.

3) Vehicles coming from Ashram Road will be able to commute through Sabarmati River Front (West) Road towards Danilimda, Gomtipur and Maninagar through Ambedkar Bridge.

4) Vehicles coming from Soni Chawl Road in Odhav will be able to commute to Rakhial Cross Roads and then turn right towards Memco or turn left towards Gomtipur, Maninagar and Danilimda.

According to the notification, the restriction on traffic movement will remain in place from 5 am till Rathyatra returns to the temple, the same day. 

Exemption

On-duty Government vehicles, Vehicles of Fire and Emergency Service, Ambulances will be exempted from the restriction.

No parking zone for two days

Another notification issued by City Police Chief Sanjay Srivastava mentions no-parking zones declared on July 11th and 12th. The areas, which have been covered under the no-parking zone are roads leading from Jagannath Temple near Jamalpur Gate to Jamalpur Chakla, Vaishyasabha, Khamasa, Gol-Limda, Astodia Chakla including the BRT track, Madangopal Haveli, Raipur Chakla, Old Gate of Khadia, Khadia Cross Roads, Panchuva, Kalupur Circle, Kalupur Overbridge, Saraspur, Premdarwaja, Jordan Road, Bechar Lashkar Haveli, Delhi Chakla, Halim Khadki, Shahpur Gate, Shahpur Chakla, Rangila Chowky, Auttam Pole, RC High School Road, Delhi Chakla, Gheekanta Road, Pankor Naka, Fountain Road, Chandla Ode, Sankhdi Sheri, Road leading from Manekchowk to Vegetable Market, Danapith and Road leading from Khamasa to Jagannath Temple.
