The victim said in a statement that five people, three-man and a woman, one of them known as Pandit, poured diesel on her and set her flaming before fleeing the location. On Saturday afternoon,

A member of the vulnerable Saharia tribe, Rampyari Bai, reached the land on Saturday afternoon. The accused were ploughing the area, and the victim objected to this action, leading to the ablaze. Her husband, Arjun Saharia, claimed they received the land under the Chief Minister Welfare Scheme during the Digvijay Singh government in MP.

However, the local authorities settled the land ownership dispute with the help of local authorities in May. Further, the local police registered a complaint and took the accused under custody. But, they denied the allegations and claimed that woman did it to herself.
