TT Tourney: Pratha’s Campaign Ends But All Is Not Lost For The Hosts

| Updated: January 27, 2023 20:21

Gujarat’s emerging table-tennis player Pratha Pawar’s spirited campaign in the under-15 girl’s category ended with a loss in the pre-quarterfinals of the UTT National Ranking Table Tennis Championships.  The Ahmedabad girl was defeated by M Ananya of Tamil Nadu 0-3 (8-11, 6-11, 8-11).  The defeat ended the run of all the eight Gujarat players in the tournament’s U-15 category. Pratha can still make an impression in the girls’ under-17 category; the 13-year-old won both her qualifying matches to reach the main draw.

Fourteen-year-old Riya Jaiswal too booked her berth in the main draw in the U-17 category.

In the U-17 boys’ category, Janmejay Patel and Arman Shaikh also advanced to the main draw.

Now, the hosts eagerly await the progress of their other players, Soham Bhattacharya, Abhilash Raval, Akshit Savlaakshit, Chitrax Bhatt and Karanpalsinh Jadeja, who entered the men’s main draw.

Many upcoming Gujarat players are showcasing their skills in this TT festival that started Monday. Arjuna Award winner Mouma Das discussed her fitness regime. The TT player from West Bengal told the Vibes of India, “Why you are losing the match is not important, but you should learn from your mistakes.”
