Two Die After Consuming Country-Made Liquor In Dholera

| Updated: May 26, 2025 17:19

Two persons have died after consuming country-made liquor in Dholera on Sunday night. One person is undergoing treatment.

While more details are awaited, Shaktisinh Gohil, Gujarat Congress president and Rajya Sabha MP, took to X on Monday and said the Ahmedabad DSP called him up to say that two persons lost lives and those who had consumed country-made liquor from the same place have been admitted to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Gohil said that the Ahmedabad DSP told him that he was personally looking into the case.

The Congress leader told Vibes of India that he had received calls in which people expressed concern that the police were trying to hush up the matter.

Addressing the Gujarat Chief Minister, Gohil demanded a proper inquiry and said that no more life should be lost for want of proper treatment.

While appreciating what the Ahmedabad DSP said, Gohil said that anti-social activities in Gujarat are a matter of concern.

Ahmedabad Rural SP has said that based on primary information the cause of death of the deceased seems to be dehydration. According to reports, the Ahmedabad Rural SP said that after consuming the country-made liquor, two persons were out in the sun the whole day.

The Gujarat Government has initiated Smart City Project in Dholera.

Gujarat is a dry state where manufacturing, sale and consumption of liquor is prohibited. However, there is an exception for the GIFT City in Gandhinagar for the employees there and authorised visitors.
