Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that decades-old shackles have been broken and in the last one decade the country has taken decisions that were once unimaginable and unprecedented.
He was addressing a public meeting in Dahod after inaugurating developmental projects worth Rs 24,000 crore.
Modi is on a two-day visit to his home state, first after Operation Sindoor.
The Prime Minister gave out a strong message against terrorism and said that the end of anyone who dares to remove the sindoor (vermillion) of our sisters is near. Addressing the masses, he said that they made him the Prime Minister and he gave a free hand to the Army. “We accomplished what the world has not seen in years,” he remarked.
May 26 also marked 11 years when Modi took oath as the Prime Minister for the first time in 2014. “First the people of Gujarat blessed me and then crores of Indians,” he remarked. He said he has dedicated day and night to serving the people of the Nation.
The Prime Minister said that in the last one decade, the country has taken decisions that were unimaginable and unprecedented. In these years, the country has broken chains that were decades old, he said, adding that the country has progressed in every sector.
Modi emphasised on the growth of the manufacturing sector in the country and added that whatever is needed for the progress of the country, we should manufacture it in India itself. This is the demand of today’s time, he remarked. India’s exports are continuously rising, he pointed out.
Emphasising on “Make In India”, the Prime Minister called upon the gathering to use goods “Made in India”. Pointing out that may be the festival of Holi or Ganpati, stuff manufactured abroad is being used, Modi took a promise from the gathering that they would use goods “Made In India”.
He inaugurated a Locomotive Manufacturing plant of the Indian Railways in Dahod, which will produce electric locomotives of 9000 HP for domestic purposes and for export. The locomotives will help in increasing the freight loading capacity of Indian Railways. He also flagged off the first electric locomotive manufactured from the plant. Modi flagged off the Vande Bharat Express connecting Veraval and Ahmedabad, as well as a new express train linking Valsad and Dahod.
Earlier in the day, soon after landing at the Vadodara Airport, PM Modi held a road show that lasted for over half an hour. People thronged either side of the roads, holding banners and placards, to have a glimpse of the PM. Flower petals were showered and slogans raised. Women could be seen wearing sarees and sporting sindoor.
Among those who were seated to greet the Prime Minister were family members of Colonel Sofiya Qureshi.
Later in the day in Bhuj, Modi will launch additional development projects worth over ₹53,400 crore. These include initiatives in Kandla Port, solar energy, power transmission, and road infrastructure.
He will also unveil four drinking water supply schemes costing ₹181 crore, aimed at benefiting 4.62 lakh residents across 193 villages and one town in the Mahisagar and Dahod districts.
PM Modi will also distribute cheques worth ₹3,300 crore to urban local bodies under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana.
Late in the evening, he will also take part in a road show in Ahmedabad.
