Kashmiri Men Nabbed Selling Charas On Sindhu Bhavan Road, Ahmedabad

Gujarat police in on an intensive campaign with an intention to unearth the nefarious network of drug peddlers from other parts of Gujarat, visiting the state on and off for the illicit trade.

Sarkhej police have caught two Kashmiri youths from Sindhu Bhavan Road in Ahmedabad in possession of one Kg of charas. Sindhu Bhavan Road in West Ahmedabad is a happening place in Ahmedabad. The arrested Kashmiri youth targetted the place in search of wealthy and wayward youngsters of Ahmedabad frequenting the place.

Premsukh Delu, The DCP, Zone 7, Ahmedabad, had received information about drug trafficking on Sindhu Bhavan Road. On the basis of this information, Sarkhej Police Inspector S G Desai and PSI DP Solanki were instructed to maintain surveillance. During the surveillance, the behavior of the two youths was found suspicious. As a result, the police stopped and searched them and found a kilogram of Kashmiri charas with a market value of around Rs 2 lakh.

Inquiries revealed that Farooq Ahmed Koshi (age 22) and Bilal Ahmed Kushwal (age 23), residents of Kupwara, Kashmir, revealed that they used to bring charas from Kashmir and sell it in different restaurants and cafes on Sindhu Bhavan Road in Ahmedabad. They had adopted a new method of finding customers. During the day they work in a catering agency as waiters to identify rich youngsters looking for fun and sell them drugs on Sindhu Bhavan Road in the evening.

DCP Premsukh Delu informd that there were still many facets remaining to be investigated, including how many times he had come to Ahmedabad from Kashmir with drugs in the past. The incident has also been reported to Kashmir’s Kupwara police and is being investigated if they have any criminal past.
