The crime branch arrested a Ugandan woman and two local men for possession of 50.75 gms of cocaine worth Rs 4.5 lakh for supply to rave parties.

Rave parties involve fast, repetitive electronic music and light shows. It’s a youth-oriented culture that combines music, art, and social ideals.

A city-based tabloid reported that Shalin Shah (34) and Blacky Patel (41) were the others arrested near a bungalow in Prakruti Kunj society. Shah reportedly owns a showroom of fancy light chandeliers in the Shivranjani area. Patel is associated with a dairy business.

Shah was earlier caught by Vastrapur police under the Prohibition Act, the report added.

The accused would reportedly arrange rave parties and charge Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 from those who wanted a drag of the stimulant drug.

Ahmedabad Crime Branch also seized 203.61 grams of Mephedrone worth Rs 20.3 lakh and arrested 36-year-old Dahyalal Patel, a native of Salumber in Rajasthan, from Piplaj-Pirana Road. Patel, booked under Section 8(c) and 22(c) of the NDPS Act, was arrested last year as well under the same sections.

The Ugandan Asimul alias Keli James Rechale (26) came to India on a medical visa and stayed back using someone else’s passport. She would supply drugs to Shah and Patel which she used to bring from Mumbai. Asimul used to get Rs 10,000 per delivery from a drug trafficker in Mumbai. DCP Mandlik told the media that two Nigerian nationals named Silvestor and Livingston used to traffic African cocaine through Asimul.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Chaitanya Mandlik informed media outlets that following intelligence alerts, the police kept a watch near Prakrutikunj Society in Ambawadi and arrested the three with cocaine.

Investigations revealed that the two would party at farmhouses along with their friends.

“Both Shah and Patel were drug addicts and had turned some 20 others into drug addicts, who held the parties,” a crime branch official as per a media report.
