“The Union Budget 2022 will lay the blueprint for the next 25 years” – proudly stated Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while announcing the Budget plans for the next financial year on Tuesday, February 01, 2022.
Interestingly, Finance Minister Sitharaman began her presentation of Budget 2022 by expressing empathy towards people financially and health-wise affected by covid.
“I want to take a moment to express my empathy for those who had to bear adverse health and economic effects of the pandemic,” stated the Finance Minister while presenting her fourth Budget in the Parliament.
“The Budget focuses on taking India at 75 to India at 100, Sitharaman also added that last year budget has seen significant implementation.
According to the Finance Minister, India’s economic growth is estimated to be 9.2% in the current financial year.
While explaining ion what the government perceives in their Amrit Kaal she said, “During Amrit Kaal, our government aims to achieve the vision for India at100 set out by the Prime Minister in his Independence Day Address.” On this, she further added, “We are marking Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, our focus is on: Complementing micro and macro economy; Promoting digital economy; Private and public investments.”

Few highlights of the Budget 2022:
- PM Gati Shakti provides a big push to the Infrastructure.
- National digital health ecosystem will be rolled out
- Digital ecosystem for skilling will be launched to skill and reskill citizens through online training
- For MSMEs Udyam,e-shram, NCS & Aseem portals will be inter-linked and their scope will be widened
- NABARD will finance startups in agriculture and rural enterprises for farm produce value chain
- Finance Minister announces issuance of e-passports using embedded technology to enhance convenience for citizens in their foreign travel
- 3.8 crore households will be covered under ‘Har Ghar, Nal se Jal’
- PM-DevINE will fund infrastructure and social development based on the needs of North Eastern States of India
- Vibrant Villages Programme will target the development of villages on the Northern Border left out from the development gains
- Digital Banking by 100 per cent of post offices will come up
