Union Minister Ajay Mishra has blamed UP’s local police for Lakhimpur Kheri’s violence in Tikunia village wherein eight people were killed. Minister’s son who is the prime accused in the case is in judicial custody and is being interrogated.
While attending a prayer meeting at Singha Khurd village for BJP workers who had died in the wake of the October 3 violence, Mishra made remarks on Sunday that one of the workers was alive and had reached the ambulance but was dragged out and killed in the presence of police officers.
Mishra further said that there were no barricades put on the route that was taken by the protesters who were coming back after stating a stir.
A nationwide Rail Roko protest demanding the sacking of the minister from the Union cabinet has been organised. Mishra has been denying all allegations claiming that his son is innocent and was not even present on the site that day.
The fresh remarks from the minister are expected to give fresh ammunition to the opposition, which has been targeting the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in the state. They have claimed that the state government does not care about the farmers and have joined the farmers in demanding the Union minister’s removal.
