The Uttar Pradesh government has announced the compensation of Rs 45 lakh to the kin of the deceased and Rs 10 lakh to the injured in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence incident on Monday.
“An agreement has been reached with the farmers. The government will give Rs 45 lakh to the family members of the four farmers who were killed in the violence on Sunday. Besides, one member from their families will be given a government job at the local level,” said Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Awanish Awasthi.
“The government will give Rs 10 lakh to the injured and get the incident probed by a retired High Court judge,” he added.
Two FIRs have been registered in connection with the incident.
The deadly scuffle between a group of protesting farmers and the people of Union MoS for Home Affairs, Ajay Misra’s son – Ashish Misra left eight dead in Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday.
Section 144 has been imposed in Lakhimpur and all the borders of Lucknow, which leads to Lakhimpur are sealed. Several politicians – Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Deepender Hooda, Akhilesh Yadav, Shivpal Singh Yadav, Sanjay Singh and Chandrashekhar Azad, have been detained while en route to Lakhimpur.
