Even as the Congress remains clueless about its election strategy for Uttar Pradesh, the BJP has already appointed 165 Gujarat BJP leaders to oversee elections on 71 seats in 11 districts. In Gonda district, the responsibility has been handed over to Uday Kanagad, president of Gujarat BJP Bakshipanch Morcha.
According to BJP sources, out of 400 BJP leaders across Gujarat who have shown readiness to campaign in Uttar Pradesh, the party has selected 164, including five leaders from Rajkot city, three of whom are considered strong contenders for the Rajkot assembly seat.
Legislative Assembly elections will be held in Uttar Pradesh in month of February to March 2022 to elect 403 members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The term of current assembly elected in 2017 will expire on 14 May 2022.
Rajkot Rajya Sabha MP Rambhai Mokria has been transferred to Sitapur district. Gujarat BJP Bakshipanch Morcha president Uday Kanagad has been given the responsibility in the district. Rajkot Rajya Sabha MP Rambhai Mokria will be sent to Sitapur district along with Jaimeen Thacker and Dhansukh Bhanderi.
Ministers will leave for Uttar Pradesh on December 15 and will lead the BJP’s campaign in 72 MLA constituencies in 11 districts in the Awadh area. These leaders will stay in Uttar Pradesh for three months and will occasionally visit their hometown Gujarat.
According to sources, the BJP has been working tirelessly to maintain its base in Uttar Pradesh and for the last one and a half years, leaders from other provinces have been given the responsibility of campaigning in the stronghold of the Opposition, including the Congress.
