Police in the Vadodara district destroyed liquor bottles worth Rs 1.97 crores near Kotali village on Tuesday.
Despite a ban on alcohol in Gujarat, police teams have frequently seized liquor and later destroyed the bottles at places on the outskirts of the city.
According to sources, 83,697 bottles caught in two police stations of Vadodara district in the last two years were destroyed in the presence of top police and district administration officers.
Sub Divisional Magistrate, Dr. Shraddha Shrimali told mediapersons that 157 cases on seizure of foreign liquor were registered in Varpnama and Taluka Police Station between 2020 and 2022. During this period, 83,697 bottles were seized by the police. The seized liquor bottles worth 1,97,42,614 were destroyed by the police.
