The historic operation was carried out on Train No. 20901 Mumbai Central–Gandhinagar Capital Vande Bharat Express, with the heart being transported from Surat to Ahmedabad. It was then rushed to the U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre, where doctors immediately began the transplant procedure.

The live heart was picked up from Surat at 9:18 AM and safely reached U.N. Mehta Hospital in Ahmedabad at 12:55 PM, completing the journey in just 3 hours and 45 minutes.
Officials said the operation became even more significant because heavy rainfall in South Gujarat had disrupted flight services, making air transport impossible. In such a situation, the Vande Bharat Express emerged as the fastest and most reliable option to ensure the organ reached the recipient within the limited preservation time.
Green Corridor Ensured Zero Delay
To make the time-sensitive mission successful, authorities created a special Green Corridor.
As soon as the Vande Bharat Express arrived at Platform No. 1 of Ahmedabad Railway Station, officials from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Gujarat State Police escorted the organ through a dedicated traffic-free route to the U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre.
The seamless movement ensured that the heart reached the hospital without any delay, allowing surgeons to begin the transplant procedure immediately.
