Veteran Singer Vani Jairam Dies At 78

Veteran playback singer Vani Jairam, who delivered over 10,000 songs in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Bhojpuri, Marathi, and other languages, passed away today at her Chennai residence.

The 78-year-old legendary vocalist was discovered dead in her Chennai flat on Haddows Road. The third-highest civilian honour in India, the Padma Bhushan, was recently given to her.

The singer’s maid showed up for work today, but after numerous calls, she received no response. She warned her family members, who then called the police. She was discovered dead in the flat after the police force through the door. Her husband passed away a few years ago, and Vani Jairam used to reside alone in her Chennai flat.

According to reports from her close friends and family, she may have slipped and fallen. She worked in the cinema industry for 50 years and won state honours in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Odisha in addition to the National Best Playback Singer award three times. The singer who won a national award collaborated with several musicians across the country.
