A women’s cell meeting of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Kankaria picnic house in the city took a tragic turn on Friday evening when a wall collapsed, injuring four women.
The unfortunate incident occurred when a truck belonging to the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES), which was parked nearby for the BJP event, reversed into a wall. The impact caused the wall to collapse onto five women who were standing behind it. The injured women, identified as Vimla Parmar, Nanda Parmar, Neeru Vankar, and Lata Girdhar, were immediately rushed to LG Hospital in Maninagar.
Thankfully, none of the women sustained severe injuries. Upon hearing the news, several senior BJP members, including Maninagar MLA Amul Bhatt, BJP candidate for the Ahmedabad (West) seat Dinesh Makwana, and former Jamalpur-Khadia MLA Bhushan Bhatt, hurried to LG Hospital to assess the situation.
As of now, no legal case has been registered in relation to the incident. The event underscores the importance of safety measures during public gatherings.
