To help promising talent come to the fore, a Children’s Drama Club is being held by Walter Peter, founder-director, LaaPoLaa TIE-India at Evoke Collective, Nehrunagar. The workshop started Sunday and will be on during weekends till January 2023. The program culminates with a stage show.

“Drama is an instrument of change. We hope young talent comes forward to hone their talent and bring about a meaningful change in society. Stage acts begin with “ME but the message is for “WE,” explained Peter.

The modules have been planned to work on the self and families as units of change. “Stage shows are a wonderful way to connect with the inner self and with the community at large. Real shows force an introspection while screen time merely engages one,” he adds.

The group is known to travel across the country to conduct similar workshops. His sessions cater to teachers, young adults and parents. Along with workshops, Peter also moderates Annual Day celebrations for various schools. “So far, we have worked on 22 plays for various schools. We are also working on training social workers. NGOs have great potential for wielding change,” the actor-director informs.

When asked to share notes on the new chapters, he detailed: “This workshop is for the children of Ahmedabad. This year’s theme will be decided by the participants and steered by contemporary issues.”
