Ahmedabad: Waqf Tribunal Orders Immediate Removal Of Encroachments From Graveyards

Taking serious note about the rampant encroachments in the graveyards meant for Muslim communities, The Gujarat State Waqf Tribunal has directed Waqf Board to remove such encroachments within 15 days time.

Chartoda Kabrastan in Gomtipur, Pir Kamal and Lalghumti Kabrastans and Musa Suhag Kabrastan at Shahibaug has seen much encroachments over several years. City police Commissioner Office itself is seen as one of the encroachers in case of Musa Suhag Kabrastan as they are using kabrastan for parking the vast number of seized vehicles. In Chartoda Kabrastan more than 300 households are settled illegally with houses, shops and garages.

All major graveyards in the city are managed by Sunni Muslim Waqf Committee. The Tribunal has asked the committee to place action taken report by December 27th.
